10 Popular Bathroom Design Trends Among Homeowners Today
1. Neutral White Tones: White and off-white continue to dominate as the top color choices for most bathroom features. Off-white has now surpassed gray in nearly every category, except for vanities where gray narrowly leads by 1%. Wood remains the most popular vanity color (26%), followed closely by white (22%).
2. Wet Rooms: This year, 13% of renovated bathrooms are wet rooms, with better space utilization being the main reason for this choice (66%). Additional motivations include universal design considerations (39%) and aesthetic appeal (33%).
3. Alcove and Low-Curb Showers: Low-curb showers are the most popular, chosen by 45% of homeowners, a slight increase from the previous year. Alcove showers are close behind at 44%, also up slightly. Curbless showers continue to be favored, though their popularity has dipped slightly, with 21% of homeowners opting for them in 2024 compared to 24% in 2023.
4. Tiled Showers: A vast majority of homeowners prefer tiled surfaces for shower floors and walls, with 87% opting for tile on floors and 83% on walls. Ceramic and porcelain are the top materials, while some choose luxurious options like marble or practical choices like acrylic.
5. Alcove Bathtubs: Although freestanding flat-bottom bathtubs remain the top choice, their popularity has declined (from 55% in 2023 to 42% in 2024). Meanwhile, alcove bathtubs have seen a notable increase, rising 15 percentage points to 39%.
6. Stock Vanities: Custom and semi-custom vanities remain the most popular, selected by 57% of homeowners, though this is down five percentage points from last year. Stock vanities are gaining traction, now chosen by 31% of homeowners, marking a five-point increase, while 7% opt for ready-to-assemble options.
7. Engineered Quartz Countertops: Engineered quartz remains the top choice for vanity countertops, favored by 42% of homeowners. Natural stone options are also popular, with quartzite at 20%, granite at 15%, and marble at 13%.
8. Undermount Sinks: Undermount sinks continue to be the preferred style, selected by 61% of homeowners. Integrated sinks are the next most popular at 15%, followed closely by drop-in sinks at 14%.
